Introducing Pantone Colour of the Year 2017: 'Greenery'!
Each year the team at Pantone work tirelessly to innovate new technologies to recreate subtle nuances of tone and shade in materials such as plastic, fabric, and paint. Alongside this, their team is busy forecasting the up-coming colour trends across design sectors ranging from fashion and textiles to interiors. The institute provides design experts a point of reference and inspiration as they take on new projects and contracts.

In addition to their work in standardising colour across the supply chain, Pantone's team of experts work to establish what will serve as 'Colour of the Year.' The team considers everything from pop culture to music, film, and art, even conducting studies to establish the current state of the global psyche before deciding on which shade will win the coveted spot at the top. In an interview with the incredible interior design influencer The Design Sheppard, Pantone's Creative Director said:
"We start looking at influences in the preceding September. We question people about their hopes, aspirations, and concerns for the future. We look at fashion, films in production, buzzwords, art collections for the future, socio-economic issues, we conduct studies, and we look at other studies and surveys. Because we construct a long-term forecast, we know well ahead of time where colours will be going. I also travel extensively internationally, delivering presentations at various shows and I get much of my information from that."
This year the shade to beat out all the competition is none other than 'Greenery'!
Information taken from the Pantone website detail the reasons behind their choice, and their take on the colour and its connotations:

GREENERY
PANTONE 15-0343
"A refreshing and revitalizing shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings.
Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.
Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally. A constant on the periphery, Greenery is now being pulled to the forefront - it is an omnipresent hue around the world.
A life-affirming shade, Greenery is also emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality."
If the past is anything to go by, this colour is set to dominate the design landscape this year, undoubtedly set to appear in films, in our homes, and on the hottest runways! Last year's colours were a huge hit with our customers, and we're sure 'Greenery' will live up to 2016's vibrant legacy.
